Proverbs 3:27, 30

Proverbs 3:27
Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due,
When it is in the power of your hand to do so.

Proverbs 3:30
Do not strive with a man without cause,
If he has done you no harm.

This just struck me as talking about our family's. It really got me thinking; perhaps it might stir you up too.

Learning to Love

Last night I was cleaning up a mess after Grandpa in the bathroom and I learned something. Usually Grandma does it but she was eating and I didn't want to disturb her. Paper towls in hand wiping the floor I learned a lesson about love.

Prayer of Confession at our Church

Give ear, O Shepard of Israel, you who lead your people like a flock!
You who are enthroned upon the cherubim, shine forth.
Stir up your might, and come save us!
Restore us, O God; let your face shine, that we might be saved!

Mothers and Daughters

~from Building Her House by Nancy Wilson~

I love the beautiful expression in Psalm 144:12 describing covenant daughters in a culture blessed by God: "that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace." What a wonderful way to think of our daughters!

To my Mother,

Mom, sometimes I may not understand you
but I do notice the things you do.
You are a helper Dad, do the hard work that we can't
Like;
research, getting our school scheduals together,
and working on life issues.
Thanks for all you do,
some day I want to be a hard worker like you.

Isaiah 58:9a-14

"you shall be like a watetered garden"

“ If you take away the yoke from your midst,
The pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness,
10 If you extend your soul to the hungry
      And satisfy the afflicted soul,
Then your light shall dawn in the darkness,
And your darkness shall be as the noonday.

1 Kings 17:8-15

1 Kings 17:8-15
8 Then the word of the LORD came to him, saying, 9 “Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. See, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.” 10 So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, indeed a widow was there gathering sticks. And he called to her and said, “Please bring me a little water in a cup, that I may drink.” 11 And as she was going to get it, he called to her and said, “Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.”

Why Should Cross and Trial Grieve Me?

"make a way that we may enter heav'nly glory."

Why should cross and trial grieve me? Christ is near with his cheer;
never will he leave me. Who can rob me of the heaven
that God's Son for my own to my faith hath given

God oft gives me days of gladness; shall I grieve if he give
seasons too, of sadness? God is good and tempers ever
all my ill, and he will wholly leave me never.

Matthew 6:25, 34

25 Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life what you will eat or what you will drink; nor your body what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is it own trouble.
